My name is Emily Lindley and I created Ayurveda Secrets in 2019. With a background in massage and a lifelong passion for diet, health and wellness, when I first heard about Ayurveda I just had to learn more.
Whilst growing up I suffered from skin troubles like eczema, acne and allergies. This sparked off my interest in health and well-being and I delved into finding out more about the diets we eat and the products we put on our skin. My findings were scary and I became aware of how much we have strayed away from a natural approach and that it had become the norm to have a crazy amount of unpronounceable chemicals in our diets and slathered on our bodies. The more information I found out I realised that these chemicals cause us a whole host of problems like skin irritations, asthma, hormone imbalances, the dreaded cancer and many more. I decided to take as many of these chemicals out of mine and my families lives and use natural products to cleanse and also to clean our house. We went organic and tried to eat wholefoods instead of packaged goods. My eczema, contact dermatitis and acne got so much better and my children who had suffered with asthma no longer wheezed or had runny noses. It became apparent to me from countless doctors' trips I had booked over the years to try and alleviate my symptoms, each time I was given some sort of lotion and potion that rarely worked and never was I questioned about my lifestyle, diet or stress levels. The connection was made in my head – treat the cause not the symptom. This is exactly what Ayurveda does.
I enrolled myself on an Ayurvedic Wellness Coach course taught by the amazing Katie Silcox who has lived and breathed Ayurveda and Yoga for most of her life. My time at Ayurveda school taught me to look at a person as a whole to see which areas of their lives are out of balance. Going deep into their lifestyles, habits, stress levels, sleep patterns, family history, activity levels and any current symptoms they may be suffering from and tracing it back to the root cause.
After studying Ayurveda and working out my personal constitution (dosha) I now know what triggers will put my body out of balance and how to lead a happy, healthy, calm life where I can live in the moment and be the best version of me. I would love to share some Ayurveda Secrets with you too.
